Curiosities may be odd, unusual, rare, or old objects. Interesting, surprising, and sometimes amusing, they come in a variety of forms. They can be found in towns, villages, and cities. Some are reminders of a past age, others provide directions. They can be memorials and commemorations of events such as royal jubilees. Whether small or large they are a part of our history and heritage and should be preserved for our enjoyment today and for future generations.

Abingdon-on-Thames, Henley-on-Thames, and Marlow are three historic and picturesque towns on the river Thames. Abingdon was once the county town of Berkshire before becoming a part of Oxfordshire. Henley is famous for its annual regatta, and Marlow has its famous suspension bridge on one of the loveliest stretches of the river.

There are many more churches in the East Anglia than can be included in the space of one publication and this book features a selection of fifty churches that can be found around the counties of Norfolk, Suffolk, and Essex. Churches are many things. They are primarily places of worship, they provide service to their local communities, are of architectural interest, and are an important part of our heritage and history, with reminders and memorials of famous and ordinary people from past centuries.
