The River Great Ouse originates as a brook near Brackley in Northamptonshire. From Brackley it flows in a series of loops through the counties of Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire, and Bedfordshire to Bedford. It is navigable from Bedford passing through Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Norfolk to King’s Lynn. Abingdon-on-Thames, Henley-on-Thames, and Marlow are three historic and picturesque towns on the river Thames. Abingdon was once the county town of Berkshire before becoming a part of Oxfordshire. Henley is famous for its annual regatta, and Marlow has its famous suspension bridge on one of the loveliest stretches of the river.
